MACORP’s has opened its new US$35 million headquarters in Covent Garden, a landmark investment strengthening Guyana’s technical workforce and economic growth. The US$35 million investment reflects MACORP’s confidence in Guyana’s future and its commitment to supporting the country’s development through technical excellence, workforce training, and world-class service standards.
The state-of-the-art 450,000-square-foot facility combines modern office space, advanced mechanical workshops, and a dedicated learning centre designed to train and develop technicians, engineers, mechanics, and equipment operators. The facility is expected to help address the growing demand for skilled labour across Guyana’s expanding construction, infrastructure, energy, mining, and industrial sectors.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill highlighted the critical role that investments in training, technical expertise, and modern industrial support services will play as Guyana continues its rapid development.
He further emphasized that while machinery and equipment are essential to development, it is people who ultimately drive national progress.
“In many ways, facilities like this form the backbone of national development because modern economies cannot function without reliable equipment and technical support services,” the Minister stated.
He further stressed that developing local technical capacity must remain a national priority.
“Heavy-duty machinery is only as effective as the technicians, engineers, mechanics, and operators behind it. That is why the development of technical skills and engineering expertise must become a national priority.”
The Minister noted that the new facility is uniquely positioned to help bridge the skills gap by providing ongoing training opportunities and fostering the expertise required to support Guyana’s transformation. He underscored the importance of ensuring that Guyanese workers are equipped with the knowledge and practical experience needed to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the economy.
Minister Edghill also highlighted the broader economic impact of the investment, noting that a highly skilled workforce is essential for increasing productivity, supporting innovation, and ensuring that economic growth delivers lasting benefits to citizens.
He commended MACORP for its longstanding contribution to national development and reiterated that strong partnerships between government and the private sector remain vital to advancing economic growth, creating opportunities, and building a resilient and competitive economy.
The opening of the new MACORP headquarters stands as a testament to the importance of investing in people, skills development, and technical excellence as Guyana continues its journey toward sustainable economic growth and prosperity.
