The 2026 Guyana Local Content Summit will return on June 2-3 at the Houston Event Centre, Four Points Sheraton, bringing together key stakeholders to examine emerging opportunities, policy shifts and investment trends tied to Guyana’s rapidly expanding oil and gas industry.
Hosted by MBW, Prestige Management Consultants and the Local Content Secretariat under the auspices of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the summit will be held under the theme, “From Policy to Prosperity: Unlocking Opportunities through Collaboration.”
The event’s official media partner, OilNow, in an article reported that the summit will convene policymakers, investors, financial institutions, operators, subcontractors, suppliers and private sector representatives for discussions focused on strengthening local participation in Guyana’s petroleum economy.
This year’s agenda is expected to emphasize practical, solution-oriented dialogue around the evolution of the country’s local content framework and its broader economic impact. Key discussion areas will include anticipated legislative and regulatory updates, access to financing for local businesses, workforce development challenges, procurement opportunities and strategies to improve competitiveness within the sector.
The summit will also explore how Guyanese businesses and professionals can position themselves to benefit from opportunities across supporting industries such as logistics, manufacturing, hospitality, ICT, transportation, construction and professional services.
Organizers said the event will additionally assess the impact of Guyana’s Local Content legislation on the business environment since the law was enacted in 2021. Sessions are expected to provide insights into the benefits of Local Content certification and guidance on identifying and securing upcoming opportunities in the energy value chain.
The two-day programme will feature keynote presentations, ministerial roundtables, technical briefings, industry opportunity sessions, fireside discussions and networking engagements designed to foster collaboration between government, investors and the private sector.
Guyana’s Local Content Act, passed in 2021, established requirements for the use of Guyanese goods, services and labour within the country’s oil and gas industry, creating new pathways for domestic business participation as petroleum production continues to expand.
