More than 2,200 residents are expected to receive their Certificates of Title in Guyana, which is expected to boost homeownership, unlock access to financing, and stimulate further investment in the country’s housing and construction sectors.
The Certificates of Title will be distributed over three days during a Dream Realised Housing Drive by the Ministry of Housing through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) at the ministry’s flagship International Building Expo 2026.
The International Building Expo is Guyana’s premier housing, construction, and real estate showcase. Hosted by the Ministry of Housing, it connects citizens, developers, financial institutions, and international investors to manage the country’s rapid development, promote homeownership, and display innovative, sustainable building technologies.
Minister of Housing, Collin Croal, said the initiative goes beyond the allocation of house lots, noting that legal ownership is a critical step in helping beneficiaries transform land into valuable financial assets.
With official titles in hand, beneficiaries will be better positioned to approach financial institutions for mortgages, construction loans, and other forms of financing needed to begin building their homes.
The accelerated processing of Certificates of Title was made possible through strengthened collaboration among the Ministry of Housing, the Deeds and Commercial Registries Authority, and the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission.
The presence of banks and insurance companies at the Expo is expected to further support this process, with new title holders being encouraged to seek on-the-spot mortgage pre-qualification.
The initiative will help move beneficiaries from land ownership to home construction, while generating increased demand for contractors, building materials, financial services, and insurance products across the economy.
