$42.5 Billion Distributed to Over 420,000 Guyanese Under National Cash Grant Programme

A total of $42.5 billion has been injected into the hands of Guyanese citizens through the Government’s National $100,000 Cash Grant Programme, as the initiative continues to provide direct financial support to households across the country.

Senior Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, said a total of 424,681 persons have been processed for payment to date, representing a significant flow of funds into communities nationwide.

The largest portion of the disbursement has been delivered through direct bank transfers, with 328,404 citizens receiving their grants electronically. This includes 48,858 Central Government employees, comprising public servants, teachers and members of the disciplined services, who received payments amounting to $4.9 billion in March.

In addition, 279,546 citizens who successfully completed self-registration through the online portal have received their payments, allowing thousands of households to access the funds conveniently through their bank accounts.

Government teams also reached citizens who faced challenges accessing banking services, including persons in hinterland communities, remote areas, shelters, hostels and senior citizen homes. Through this process, 96,277 persons were approved for cheque payments.

The Finance Minister said the continued distribution represents a major injection of income into the economy, providing financial assistance to eligible Guyanese while increasing spending power among households.

Citizens who have not yet registered are being encouraged to complete the process through the official cash grant portal at cashgrant.gov.gy.
